Grant Us Peace

Word over all, beautiful as the sky, beautiful that war and all its deeds of carnage must in time be utterly lost, that the hands of the sisters Death and Night incessantly softly wash again and ever again, this soiled world…
(Walt Whitman)

TRC engages another exciting collaboration with the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra and the Edina Chorale in Dona Nobis Pacem, the magnificent large scale choral/orchestral work by Ralph Vaughan Williams setting a variety of moving poetry by the American Whitman reflecting on World War I. The
other half features MN Orchestra principal cellist Anthony Ross playing the midwest premiere of Weinberg’s Fantasia for Cello and Orchestra, written as a response to the horrors of World War II and the Holocaust.

Marlene Pauley, conductor • Anthony Ross, cello
Tracey Engleman, soprano • Gerard Sundberg, baritone

A Place Called Home

A reprise of our program from the historic “Blizzard of April 2018,” this concert is a richly layered celebration of people working, singing together and sharing the gift of music in our diverse communities and lives. Belonging, finding a “home” and a safe place will be described in multiple ways through music and the spoken word.
